If you've sustained a work-related injury in Queensland, it's important to understand the process for lodging a workers' compensation claim.
Here's a step-by-step guide to assist you:


Seek Medical Attention
As soon as possible after the injury, consult a doctor to assess your condition.
Request a Work Capacity Certificate during this visit, as it's a mandatory document for your claim.
Notify Your Employer
Inform your employer about the injury promptly. This notification can be verbal or written, but documenting it in writing is advisable for record-keeping purposes.


Lodge Your Claim
You have several options to submit your workers' compensation claim:
Online Submission: The quickest method is to complete and submit the claim form online.

Ensure you lodge your claim within six months of the injury or from when you became aware of the injury. Delays beyond this period may affect your eligibility.
Await Claim Decision
WorkCover Queensland aims to decide on claims within 20 business days, provided all necessary information is available. They will contact you if additional details are required or if there are delays.
